A respect chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra, Samben Nwosu, has resigned from the party.

Nwosu, a foundation member of the party, announced his resignation in a letter sent to the Nnewi secretariat’s Otolo Ward I on Friday. The letter was distributed to reporters in Awka.

Despite years of commitment to the party’s principles of advancing democracy, he noted in the letter that recent events had caused him to reevaluate his role within it.

He stated: “But recently a full swing has taken shape within the party, especially as it has to do with unfair treatment and orchestrated embarrassments by some political merchants within the party.

“The most popular of such embarrassments was the pseudo-signing of a suspension letter by an unknown organ of the party, without due process or proper notification to myself.

“The next senatorial election rerun is an opportunity to showcase to the people that a prepared mind is better than a monetised mind, and hence, my resignation.”

Nwosu, a former Federal Commissioner at the Public Complaints Commission, stated that leaving the PDP was not an easy choice.
