In response to the continuing conflict with members of the House of Assemblies, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has denied requesting that Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara establish a state of emergency in the state.

According to ZINGTIE, this follows a rumor that Obasnjo visited Fubara and discussed the problem with the parliamentarians that first appeared on X formerly Twitter.

The alleges that during the alleged visit to Fubara, Obasanjo requested that he close the state house of assembly and remove the security guards who were stationed there.

Also asserted that Obasanjo counseled Fubara to order the closure of the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC), as well as to destroy any building that would be used to house his impeachment.

The Post Reads: “OBJ BLOWS HOT — Shutdown Rivers Assembly. Declare State of Emergency in Rivers State – Obasanjo Visits SIM Fubara.

“Withdraw security personnel from all Rivers Assembly members. Shut down NNPC, shut down NDDC, and dismantle any forces that may rise against you.

“You are the governor, elected by the people. You are the Chief Security Officer of Rivers State. What you order stands—neither Tinubu nor Wike put you in power. Demolish any hall or arena set to host your impeachment. Tinubu needs Rivers votes to win the 2027 election, and you stand in his way.”

Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo’s media assistant, told TheCable that the assertion was untrue.

Akinyemi claims that neither the internet message nor the previous president’s visit to Fubara occurred.

He said, “As you know, Obasanjo does not have a social media account, and he didn’t visit the governor or make any such comments.”
