In support of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, the Abia State branch of the Obidient Movement has declared that its followers will hold a “One Million Man March” in the state’s largest towns.

In a statement released in Umuahia on Sunday, the group stated that on July 19, the march will take place concurrently in the four main Abia towns of Umuahia, Aba, Ohafia, and Uzuakoli.

Chibuzor Obiesili, one of the state’s coordinators of the Obident Movement, and Mr. Christian Emmanuel, the head of the media and publicity subcommittee, said in a statement that the march would be held on July 19, Obi’s birthday.

The Obidient Movement referred to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as a “Organic Coalition Movement” while supporting Obi’s decision to use the organization to further his 2027 presidential goal.

“Obi believes that to dismantle the structures that keep our people in poverty and insecurity, we must build bridges and not walls even when those bridges are difficult,” the group said.

In addition to the One Million Man march for the former governor of Anambra, the Obidient Movement claimed that its members would visit hospital patients, prisoners, and other vulnerable individuals throughout Abia State.
