The pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation Afenifere has stated that Nigerians have the right to hold the scheduled demonstration ahead of the anticipated nationwide protests on Tuesday, October 1.

According to ZINGTIE, on the day of the country’s Independence Day celebration, a few young Nigerians are organising a statewide protest.

The inhabitants’ growing hunger and other financial hardships are what spark the revolt.

In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, the Leader of Afenifere, Chief Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, stated that “it is the right of the people to do so.”

On the other hand, the organisation begged that such protest should be done in a peaceful manner, without stealing, damaging any property, or injuring anyone.

In the statement, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s federal administration was urged to take more action in the fields of economy, security, agriculture, and education. It was also urged to put more effort into making sure that the infrastructure that is already in place is operational while simultaneously seeking to provide more.

“State governments are also urged to do more in infrastructure and service delivery, particularly in those areas where there is no constitutional inhibition for them.

“The local governments too should be alive to their responsibilities now that they are having fiscal autonomy so that people’s welfare can improve tremendously,” he said.

Afenifere, according to the statement, expressed optimism that circumstances will improve as soon as possible and praised the resilience of Nigerians.

The leader of Afenifere expressed the opinion that, despite the difficult times the nation is facing, it is important to recognise the small gains accomplished since independence.
