An investigation has been opened by the Ondo State Police Command into the unexplained death of Isah Ibrahim, a commercial motorcyclist whose body was found in a well near Ore Stadium in the Odigbo Local Government Area.
Following a search by neighbors and colleagues around Ore town, Ibrahim, who had been reported missing since August 17, was discovered dead on Thursday.
DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the occurrence and stated that Adebowale Razaq, the commissioner of police, has directed a thorough investigation to determine the cause of death.
“The Command urges members of the public to remain calm. A thorough investigation is underway, and those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice,” Ayanlade assured.
The fact that Ibrahim’s Bajaj motorcycle has not yet been found, according to community sources, has raised concerns that his death might be related to motorcycle snatching, a crime that is allegedly becoming more common in Ore and the surrounding areas.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a fellow commercial motorcyclist bemoaned the increasing sense of fear in the neighborhood.
“We suspect that Isah may have fallen victim to those targeting our motorcycles. We appeal to the Police and other security agencies to intensify efforts to track these criminals because our lives and livelihoods are increasingly at risk,” he said.
The Police Command has reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining safety and order in Ondo State and pledged to follow up on all leads in the matter.
