Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo said he had the assurance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the refund of money spent on the restoration of federal roads in the state.
According to ZINGTIE, Governor Okpebholo made this announcement on Wednesday at the All Progressive Congress (APC) campaign rally for the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial bye-election in the Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
He said, “President Tinubu told me to fix roads in Edo State with the assurance of a reimbursement. So, we are working. Immediately after the rains, there will be massive road construction across the State”, he said.
The Governor also revealed that he was able to get President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to approve N130 billion for the construction of the Ekpoma–Auchi–Okpella road in a short amount of time in the Senate.
However, he believed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had made significant progress in cleaning up the mess over the past 26 months, even though he inherited a failing economy.
He asserts that a failing economy was passed down from earlier administrations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He met a pretty difficult scenario. He has put a lot of effort into resolving the problems and cleaning up the mess left by his predecessors.
“We had a PDP senator who spent eight years and could not achieve this. What we achieved in nine months in the Senate, with President Tinubu’s support, the PDP could not do in eight years.
“Upon assuming office as a Senator and later as Governor, I quickly aligned with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda because of Tinubu’s love for Edo State”, he added.
As he guided APC members to various wards in the region, such as Uwessan and Ewu, Okpebholo praised President Tinubu’s economic stabilization initiatives.
He said the President’s backing has been important to his own performance as Governor and urged the people to support him for his re-election in 2027.
