The local government election that took place on Saturday in all 18 Ondo State local government areas was marred by voter indifference.
Due to the small number of polling places under observation and the absence of voter lines, the majority of the population did not cast ballots.
According to our correspondent, poll workers and security guards were ready for voters in the state’s Akure South and Akure North Local Council Areas.
Only 96 voters had cast ballots at approximately 11:00 am, with no additional voter data, out of the 922 registered voters at Ward 4, Unit 7, Ojumu, Akure South.
However, because one of the candidates for councillorship was reportedly from ward 9, unit 3, Oba-Ile, the voter turnout was a little higher there.
Police attempts to restrict vehicle mobility, however, were unsuccessful since drivers, especially those travelling through the state, were able to move around freely.
Young people were playing football on the majority of the streets we visited, and commercial motorbike riders were doing business.
