Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has been accused of desperation by Joe Igbokwe, a leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to Igbokwe, the only people calling for a one-term presidency are those who are ignorant of Nigeria and what it means to be a leader.

Igbokwe claimed that being president of Nigeria is not “moi moi,” rejecting Obi’s promise that he would only hold office for one term if elected.

Posting on X, Igbokwe wrote: “Desperation everywhere. Those who do not know Nigeria very well and those who do know what leadership is all about are desperately asking for a single term in office as President.

“Let us put our thinking caps. To be President of Nigeria is not moi moi.”

Over the weekend, Obi reiterated his promise to run for president in 2027 for just one term.
