Cross River State’s opposition parties are severely debilitated and unable to function.

Dr. Peter Odey, the state’s deputy governor, made this statement yesterday at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar while filling in for Governor Otu at the official reception of three important PDP leaders in the state into the APC, the state’s ruling party.

Odey claims that his boss’s accomplishments severely undermined the state’s opposition parties.

Odey stated that the administration had achieved significant progress in Otu’s infrastructure, economic revival, healthcare, education, agriculture, and security.

He pointed out that the governor’s inclusive and results-oriented leadership is directly responsible for the flood of opposition members joining the APC.

“This inclusive approach to governance adopted by Governor Otu has not only improved the socio-economic standards of the people but has also weakened the opposition’s structures across the state”, Odey stressed.

APC State Secretary Pastor Patrick Asikpo Okon also spoke, claiming that “political evangelism” and grassroots activism were the reasons behind the party’s increasing popularity throughout the state.

He applauded the defectors’ audacious choice to stand with the increasing number of Cross Riverians supporting Governor Otu’s leadership.

Lady Emana Duke Ambrose-Amawhe, the state’s 2023 PDP candidate for deputy governor, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo, a three-term member of the House of Representatives for the Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency, Professor Edde Iji, the state chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), and hundreds of their supporters were among those who were accepted into the APC.
