Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue State, has reiterated his intention to reposition the party in the state in order to win back control in the general elections in 2027.

While hosting PDP G-14 members and other important stakeholders from the 14 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state’s Zones A and B Senatorial Districts over the weekend in Makurdi, the state capital, Ortom made this commitment.

In addition to declaring his loyalty to the PDP, Ortom dismissed rumors that he was planning to leave the party, citing his belief that the party would come out stronger and more united before the 2027 elections.

While he would not be running for office, he stated that he would fully support PDP candidates at all levels and urged stakeholders to continue working to develop the party in the state.

Additionally, the former governor counseled candidates to participate in extensive consultations and not let the continuous defections to the ruling party deter them.

“I’m not planning to leave PDP. I remain loyal and together with commitment and dedication, we shall reclaim Benue come 2027,” he said.
