Osimhen to Arsenal? Alan Smith reveals what could go wrong

Arsenal legend Alan Smith has warned that Victor Osimhen may not be the ideal tactical or financial option for the Premier League champions.

The Galatasaray striker has been linked with Arsenal, alongside several other major European clubs, during the current summer transfer window.

However, Smith believes the Gunners need to carefully assess the implications of committing a significant amount of money to the Super Eagles forward.

Speaking to Gooners News, the former Arsenal player questioned whether Osimhen would fit smoothly into Mikel Arteta’s existing system.

Smith also raised concerns that bringing in the Nigerian striker could affect the balance and chemistry within Arsenal’s squad.

“I don’t know how much truth there is in that.

“When Osimhen went from Napoli to Galatasaray, I think most people probably thought, ‘Oh, his chance to go to the Premier League may be over there.’ But he can score goals.

“I think Arsenal do need a centre-forward; it’s about getting the right one, so that’ll be an interesting one to see how it develops, if it does develop,” Smith said.
