Well-known Nigerian artist, Davido, has seemingly acknowledged the speculation surrounding his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s possible move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reports have been circulating that the Osun State governor is preparing to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in anticipation of the 2026 governorship race.

These speculations intensified after both Davido and Governor Adeleke were seen visiting President Bola Tinubu at his private residence in Lagos last month.

Fueling the rumors further, Davido hinted at the political transition in his latest track titled “From Umbrella To Broom”—a symbolic reference to switching from the PDP to the APC.

In the song, Davido suggests that the change in party affiliation is intended to bring progress to the state, stating that aligning with the APC could contribute positively to Osun’s development.

Davido in the song said, “New broom go sweep better. Ẹtan abẹla si ìjọba wa. From umbrella to the broom. Adegbe adafa, alagbada alefa.

“Eyan marun, mefa, kilode ta n suffer. New broom go sweep better. Them tori us propaganda from January to December we no gbadun NEPA. So all of our youths wan go America,” meaning (why are we suffering when the new broom can sweep better).
