Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church has come under fire from the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for his prediction that Governor Ademola Adeleke will win reelection in 2026.

Ayodele’s prognosis was rejected by the party as being politically driven and biased.

The dispute began after Primate Ayodele made the announcement during an empowerment workshop in Lagos.

Kola Olabisi, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, condemned Ayodele’s prophecy in a press release on Saturday.

The cleric was accused by the party of being a political prophet whose prophecies had not come to pass.

“It is unfortunate that a supposed man of God has chosen to dabble in partisan politics,” Olabisi stated.

“His claims are nothing but an attempt to curry favour from the current administration for selfish gains.”

Ayodele’s comments were rejected by Osun APC, which questioned why the priest had not foreseen the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) recent defeat at the Court of Appeal in Akure.

“If he is truly a prophet, why didn’t he foresee that ruling against the PDP?” Olabisi asked.

The party further accused Ayodele of commercialising prophesies, adding that his frequent trips to political figures showed ulterior objectives.

“A true man of God does not go from house to house selling predictions,” APC added.

The party committed to speak out against Ayodele’s apparent public deception.

“Osun politics is not driven by prophecies but by the will of the people,” Olabisi stressed.

Adeleke was also attacked by the APC, which said that he was acting in a desperate political manner.

“The governor knows the challenges he faces, which is why he is seeking validation from questionable sources,” the party said.

In the meantime, Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, predicted in a statement released on Friday that the religious leader had been selected by God to serve a second term as the governor of Osun State.

Primate Ayodele claimed that heavenly revelation served as the foundation for his prophecy.

Ayodele said he visited Governor Adeleke’s home in Ede and gave a heavenly word about his political destiny while speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony of a low-cost housing project organized by the church on Friday.

He went on to say that Adeleke will win in Osun even if President Bola Tinubu ran an APC campaign.

Primate Ayodele maintained his prediction in the face of criticism, pointing up that he had previously prophesied Adeleke’s victory in the 2018 election but also anticipated that he would not take office right away.

This, he said, confirmed his spiritual authority.

“Adeleke was in the Senate in 2018 when I told him he would win but be denied victory. It happened just as I said. Now, I tell him again—he will win in 2026,” Ayodele recounted at the Lagos event.

According to the clergyman, he was friends with former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, but their connection ended after he predicted Oyetola would lose the 2022 election.

“Oyetola was my friend, but he refused to listen to the voice of God, and he lost,” he stated.

Additionally, Ayodele cautioned Adeleke against quitting the PDP, claiming that the party has been given divine approval to stay in power in Osun.

“No matter who the APC fields, Adeleke will defeat them,” he declared.
