The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chapter in Osun State has been cautioned by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that it is erroneous to believe that it can divert the party’s gubernatorial candidates for its own benefit.
Additionally, the Osun APC revealed that it is aware that the PDP is in no position to consider holding a trial in order to destroy the opposition APC.
In a statement released Tuesday in Osogbo by its chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, the party issued the warning and disclosed that it has been working nonstop to have Governor Ademola Adeleke removed from the Bola Ige House by 2026.
While acknowledging that certain people have been misrepresenting the contents of a video made by Senator Ajibola Basiru, the APC National Secretary and a governorship aspirant in the party, the party also noted that the PDP leaders were not understanding it.
He said, “It would be recalled that the reactionary elements in the state have been falling over one another twisting the content of the video recording statement credited to the national secretary of our party, Senator Ajibola Bashiru who is one of the governorship aspirants of our party for the next year’s election.
“It was observed that the leaders and members of the PDP who have rolled out the drums over the incident are grossly lacking in the comprehension of the statement credited to our national secretary as it was more of a reiteration that nothing would hinder the ongoing constitutional plans of chasing Governor Adeleke back to his base in the United States of America in 2026.
“The incident which was a fallout of the press conference organized by the State Working Committee of the APC led by me was originally called to address the use of the Amotekun Corps by the state Governor Adeleke to victimize, oppress and suppress the members and supporters of the opposition at Itaapa in the Atakumosa-East Local Government Council Area in the state.”
Lawal added that the Osun PDP was not comfortable with the difficulties they were facing in the continuing court dispute over federal funding for local government councils.
According to Lawal, President Bola Tinubu has been firmly establishing peace and harmony and is still the nation’s constitutional leader.
In order to avoid deflecting our combined efforts to remove the clumsy and uninspired Governor Adeleke from office in 2026, he also advised party members to disregard reports promoted by the PDP.
President Bola Tinubu is a beloved progressive leader in Osun State whose contributions are forever recognized by both young and old, according to Bade Falade, a former member of the House of Representatives and the Director General of the Senator Iyiola Omisore Governorship Campaign in 2018.
This statement is a response to the purported mischief that the PDP government in Osun is spreading.
Falade further said that the Osun PDP’s goal is to sow discord between the state APC and the party’s national leadership.
According to Falade, the progressive family in Osun State and Nigeria is satisfied with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who serves as their compass.
This comes as the former federal lawmaker chastised Governor Ademola Adeleke for his covert attempt to join the party in order to escape the impending loss that would befall him at the 2026 election.
Falade said this in Osogbo on Monday.
He said, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the treasure of APC in Osun and Nigeria at large. So, who dares abuse him? Who dares degrade him? Who dares degrade him? Who dares insult him? Who dares undermine him? This is far from commonsense.
“There is a saying that those who don’t want a pregnancy aborted can never pray for such a child to die. Tinubu is our own investment. Tinubu is an investment of APC in Osun. We invested our votes in 2023 to make him President and there is no way anyone will degrade him.
“If anyone should abuse Tinubu or degrade him or debase him or say anything that can tarnish his image, such a person cannot be in this party. It is the figment of imagination of the mischief makers running around with the falsehood.”
