Osun LG poll: Makinde sends strong warning to APC

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has cautioned the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, not to terminate the current democratic dispensation in the country.

Makinde cautioned the APC on Sunday against using self-help to run Osun State’s local government.

When the 30 freshly elected local government chairmen were sworn in, the governor said these things.

According to ZINGTIE, the PDP won Saturday’s local government poll, which was held in each of Osun State’s 30 local government districts.

During the swearing-in ceremony for the elected council chairmen in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, Makinde asked the APC to refrain from abusing federal power to sabotage democratic processes.

Speaking to the assembly, the governor tasked the recently elected chairmen of local governments with bringing democracy’s benefits to their constituents.

He suggested that they provide evidence for the trust that was given to them during the election.

Makinde further stated that if APC had a court judgment in its favour, it should follow due process in implementing it.

True Democrats, he continued, would not support the use of violence.

Makinde said: “We just want to peacefully deliver the dividends of democracy to our people. So, nobody should resort to self-help.

“Even if you have a court judgment, there is a process; let the process go through.”
