The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been warned by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State to stop insulting President Bola Tinubu after he hosted Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Sunday Bisi, the chairman of the Osun PDP, said in a statement released Thursday in Osogbo that the APC’s responses were shameful and unworthy.
Additionally, it charged that Osun APC lacked a fundamental comprehension of democratic governance and interstate relations.
The statement reads, “The vitriolic outbursts from APC stalwarts since President Tinubu welcomed Governor Adeleke at his Lagos residence show a total disregard for decorum and an alarming ignorance of democratic principles.
“Such conduct is beneath the proud Yoruba tradition of mutual respect and civility.”
Bisi made a suggestion that in order to ensure significant progress for the Osun people who elected him governor, Governor Adeleke will keep using all democratic channels, including talks with the president when needed.
Bisi noted that the APC has a history of disrespecting government officials, and that the Osun APC had similar outbursts during the visits of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, House of Representatives ranking member Ado Doguwa, and most recently, President Femi Gbajabiamila’s chief of staff.
He revealed that each and every one of them “faced unprovoked insults from Osun APC elements simply for acknowledging the Governor’s developmental strides.”
He recounted how, in spite of party disagreements, former Osun Governor Chief Bisi Akande hosted then-President Olusegun Obasanjo for three pleasant days before the general elections in 2003.
For the good of the state, Chief Akande and President Obasanjo collaborated on project commissioning and communication.
“That’s how real governance works. Perhaps today’s APC chronic minnows should seek wisdom from respected leaders like Baba Bisi Akande on the true meaning of leadership and statesmanship,” he noted.
Bisi praised Governor Adeleke for keeping a laser-like focus on peace, progress, and meaningful discussion, and he urged the APC to put aside small-time politics and concentrate on constructive engagement for the sake of the populace.
In light of Governor Adeleke, his older brother Deji Adeleke, and David’s Tuesday visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, the Osun PDP is offering this counsel.
In response to the visit, the Osun APC said that Governor Ademola Adeleke was not accepted in the party, according to ZINGTIE.
The party further confirmed that Governor Adeleke and his family cannot purchase the governorship ticket through former Osun Assembly Speaker Timothy Owoeye.
