Over 200 Girls Benefit From ProjectSTART Tech Programme.

Mumsbooth, a non-governmental organisation, has taken a significant step towards bridging the tech gap for young girls in Nigeria. Through its ProjectSTART initiative, the organisation has trained over 200 girls in various technology and digital skills.

The program, designed to introduce girls to the tech ecosystem, provides them with essential skills to build future careers in the sector. Conducted in partnership with Seamfix and GGTV, the training covered topics such as mobile device repair, graphic design, data analysis, and digital content creation.

According to Martha Tawiyah, founder of Mumsbooth, “Selected participants will receive scholarships for advanced studies and gain access to internships and mentorship opportunities within the organisation, preparing them for future employment.”

Parents have praised the initiative, with Hauwa Rabiu Abubakar, a parent of one of the participants, saying, “It was an incredible opportunity for my daughter to participate in the Girls in Tech programme by Mumsbooth. It was truly empowering and inspiring as she was equipped with tech skills. I am committed to ensuring she follows through with other programs.”

Since it’s inception, Mumsbooth’s ProjectSTART has positively impacted numerous Nigerian children and women. Now in its seventh year, the initiative has expanded to other African countries, benefiting over 15,000 individuals.

Martha Tawiyah expressed gratitude for the program’s successes, saying, “We will continue to reach more communities, helping people develop skills that enable them to thrive and become independent,” she said.

With it’s proven track record of empowering young girls and fostering innovation, ProjectSTART remains a beacon of hope for the next generation of African tech leaders.
