The Commissioner noted that the training marks another significant milestone in the ongoing commitment of the state government to expand economic opportunities for women at the grassroots level. She added that the newly trained 150 ward facilitators are expected to form 770 new Women Affinity Groups (WAGs), reaching an additional 20,000 women beneficiaries across the state within the project timeframe
Adeleye said, “The 150 newly engaged Ward Facilitators gathered here today are expected to meet the target of forming 770 Women Affinity Groups (WAGs), which will comprise 20,000 women beneficiaries across the Gateway State within the project time frame.”
The training is designed to equip facilitators with vital skills in financial inclusion, entrepreneurship development, record-keeping, and community mobilisation. Adeleye expressed her gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun and his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, for their immense support and investment in empowering the women in the state.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Adejumoke Adewole, emphasised the critical role of facilitators as the direct link between the government and beneficiaries at the community level. She said, “Your role as ward facilitators is vital to the continued success of this scheme, as you will be responsible for identifying, mobilising, mentoring, and monitoring women beneficiaries in your various wards.”
Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Ayotunde Lawal, appreciated the state governor and the ministry for their continuous support and good works, stressing that when a woman is empowered, the whole nation is empowered.
