The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Seun Olufade, Chairman of Ibadan North local government area, of claiming ownership of a project sponsored by the late Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi, a former member of the House of Representatives.

The APC made this charge in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Olawale Sadare, and made accessible to ZINGTIE on Sunday.

Recall that Akinremi served the Ibadan North Federal Constituency on the APC platform from 2019 to 2024; he was serving his second term in office when he died at the age of 51 on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, and was buried according to Islamic rituals on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Sadare, speaking on behalf of the APC, has raised concerns over Olufade’s purported attempt to claim ownership of a federal government-sponsored initiative supported by the deceased senator.

In the statement, Sadare claimed that Olufade had completed planning to commission the facility.

The APC stated that the project, a Cassava Processing Plant enabled by the late Akinremi and located in the Barika Area of Agbowo in Ibadan, is being supported by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Abuja.

He noted that the project is an APC project and asked PDP members to avoid it and similar ventures across the state.

“Meanwhile, the leadership of our great Party has uncovered the plan by the Chairman of Ibadan North LGA to roll out the drums this Friday in the name of commissioning a project which he knows next to nothing about with a view to misinforming the world and creating a false impression of a performing council chairman.

“The Cassava Processing factory located in Barika Area of Agbowo, Ibadan is a brainchild of the APC government at the centre aimed at empowering the people of the grassroots and at the same time, boost the efforts aimed at achieving food security.

“It is, therefore, wrong for the chairman to attempt playing a fast one on the residents of the state by laying a force claim on the project even when it is crystal clear that his administration could not have funded such a massive project because Gov Makinde has been the one spending the allocations meant for the 33 local government councils in the state since 2019.

Following the APC’s warning, ZINGTIE attempted to elicit a response from Olufade but was unsuccessful.

Several calls to his phone number went unanswered, and a message sent to him over WhatsApp went unanswered as of Monday when this report was filed.
