The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor declined a police invitation on Monday in connection with charges of serial rape and other crimes that could disrupt public order.

According to ZINGTIE, Okafor was asked to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID, by 10:00 a.m.

Abimbola Adebisi, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, said in a Sunday briefing that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered a thorough inquiry into the cleric’s charges.

The claims reportedly encompass sexual misconduct and activities that could jeopardize public peace.

An SCID officer, speaking on the condition of anonymity, verified that Okafor did not arrive as scheduled.

“Following the CP’s directive, the DCP instructed the unit handling the case to debrief him, but he did not appear. As of evening, it was evident he would not attend today,” the officer said.

Another source familiar with the situation stated that Okafor allegedly sent emissaries to request more time from the police.

“We received calls from his aides asking for an extension and assuring authorities that he would eventually report. That is the latest update we have,” the source said.
