Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa, has pledged to abstain from all PDP gatherings until Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, and other suspected party imposters are removed.
Lamido did not attend Tuesday’s meeting of the PDP National Executive Council, NEC, in Abuja.
ZINGTIE remembers that the main concerns facing the opposition party were discussed during the NEC meeting on Tuesday.
Lamido said that Wike’s continued membership in the PDP threatens the peace and stability of the party in a press conference on Tuesday.
According to him, “Wike is a disaster and a product of the PDP, the party that made him important. But now, he aims to ruin it,” Lamido said.
“I refuse to attend PDP meetings when they have fake members there. I am still a loyal member, but I won’t dignify this nonsense.”
The PDP national secretariat was sealed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), a move Lamido blamed on Wike.
“Shutting down the PDP secretariat, the very institution that aided your political career, is un-African, un-Nigerian, and a huge abuse of power,” he said.
“Wike’s mindset is flawed; he lacks the cultural and moral foundation that our political tradition requires.”
The PDP’s National Working Committee, NWC, came under fire from Lamido as well for not removing Wike and other accused anti-party members.
“What is the NWC afraid of exactly?” he asked.
“Why hasn’t Wike been kicked out? Why is former Governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, still holding a position in the Board of Trustees after openly endorsing Tinubu?
“These are fundamental breaches. If this party is to survive, it must cleanse itself.”
The President’s decision to give defaulters a 14-day ultimatum to pay unpaid FCT ground rents was commended by Lamido.
He claimed that in order to curry favor with Tinubu, Wike ordered the PDP headquarters to close, claiming that the President would eventually turn on him because of his lack of sincerity.
“Ironically, the man Wike is trying to impress was the one who called him to order. That tells you everything,” Lamido said.
“Even Tinubu is beginning to see that Wike is unreliable, lacking tradition and pedigree. And I assure you, he will soon abandon him too.”
Lamido also addressed concerns about Nigeria sliding into a one-party state, calling it “state-sponsored sabotage.”
Since 2022, the PDP has been dealing with internal strife.
