The Benue State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from the reported establishment of a new party secretariat in Lessel, Ushongo Local Government Area, Benue State.
The party contended that the commissioning of the office was illegal in a statement signed by Hon. Abraham Waroh, Zonal Chairman, Zone “A”.
“It has come to our attention that Mr. Dan Boor has claimed to be the Chairman of the PDP in Ushongo Local Government, a position that is officially held by Hon. Gaav Tsua.
“This recognition is acknowledged by the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and all relevant security agencies.”
The statement further stated that the PDP did not open any new offices in Lessel on the specified date. Instead, the party’s only official event was the inauguration of Ushongo Local Government’s eleven council ward executives, who were elected during the party’s ward congresses on July 27, 2024.
It also alleged that the local government executives were elected during congresses on September 21, 2024, but were not inaugurated with the local government party chairman during the State Congress on October 3, 2024, held at the Sese Event Centre in Makurdi.
“This inauguration was conducted under the supervision of INEC and security agencies.”
The PDP added that, as a law abiding party, it has directed its legal representatives to report Mr. Boor’s activities to the proper security agencies.
“He has been engaging in deceptive practices and misleading the public by impersonating the Ushongo Local Government Chairman of the PDP.”
The party further revealed that during the alleged commissioning of the office in Lessel, Hon. Alfred Orya Atera represented former Governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam.
The PDP implored Senator Suswam, as a respected party member, to avoid from endorsing any action that might jeopardize the party’s integrity and long-standing repute.
The message closed by urging the public to disregard any misleading rumors about the establishment of a PDP office in Lessel and warning that anyone dealing with Mr. Dan Boor, who fraudulently claims to be the Ushongo PDP Chairman, does so at their own peril.
