The newly elected State Working Committee (SWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), headed by Hon. Chukwuma Igwe as state chairman and Hon. Henry Ngonu as state secretary, has been inaugurated.
Igwe served as a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, representing Ebonyi.
On Friday, the state congress at the PDP Secretariat (located on the Abakaliki/Enugu Expressway, Km 8 in Abakaliki) elected new SWC members.
The congress, which saw many party loyalists in attendance, was overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The presence of security personnel guaranteed a peaceful event free of incidents.
While speaking to the party members, Barr Ukpai Ukairo, who heads the seven-man Congress Committee, declared that the PDP chose a consensus approach for electing new leaders in order to minimize discord. He also remarked on how pleased the committee was with how PDP members in Ebonyi State behaved.
Ukairo urged the party’s newly elected leadership “to note that there is a serious work to be done as the PDP was poised to bounce back to winning ways, especially as the 2027 general elections approach.”
During the inauguration of the new SWC, the party’s Southeast National Vice Chairman (NVC), Hon. Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu, congratulated the new executive and urged them “to go and work with the leaders and stakeholders of the party to ensure that every member of the party is carried along in rebuilding the party.”
Egwu also tasked the new PDP executive “to hit ground running by ensuring that members of the party actively take part in the e-registration of members in line with the new electoral guidelines as prescribed by the Electoral Act 2025 which was recently signed into law.”
The Ebonyi PDP SWC has newly elected members including Chief Chris Elechi Ngwuta as Deputy Chairman, Prince Kigsley Igwe as Treasurer, Barr Okohue Nkaa as Legal Adviser, Okoro Chukwudi Goodluck as Organising Secretary, and Nnanna Emea Oji as Youth Leader.
Further members are Mrs. Chinyere Nwele (Women Leader), Darlington Onwe (Publicity Secretary), Emmanuel Uka Abraham (Financial Secretary), Francis Alegu (Auditor), Alhaji Idris Oken (Vice Chairman, Central), Barr Ugochukwu Obasi (Vice Chairman, South), and Mrs. Nwojiji Blessing Chinazum (Vice Chairman, North).
