PDP factional BoT chair reveals real reason behind party’s crisis

Mao Ohuabunwa, the factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), has blamed the party’s current predicament on years of constitutional disobedience and the unbridled personal aspirations of some of its leaders.

Ohuabunwa made this claim on Monday during a ZINGTIE-monitored interview on Arise Television.

He emphasizes that the internal conflicts are self-inflicted and resulted from a continuing disdain for the party’s basic principles.

“We got to this point for no other reason than disobedience to our own constitution. If we had kept to our laws and obeyed our own rules, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Unfortunately, we have refused to learn our lessons,” he said.

The former congressman, who is currently in charge of a rival PDP BoT, went on to say that his faction was created in an effort to rebuild and mend the party, which he said had lost its moral compass.

He went on to say that personal ambition and avarice were the main causes of the PDP’s problems, accusing certain members of exploiting the party as a means of achieving their presidential goals.
