The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have come under fire from the All Progressives Congress (APC), which claims they are hypocritical and have failed their party and the people.

The reaction followed remarks made by PDP governors in the run-up to the 2027 elections, in which they criticized the APC for alleged undemocratic activities.

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka issued a statement on Monday in which the party called the PDP a party in a deep coma, severely debilitated by an unsolvable problem of its own making.

The APC claims that the results of the bye-election demonstrate that Nigerians no longer trust the opposition.

“It is laughable that PDP governors, from a party crippled by its own crises and barely recognizable from its former self, are making statements that only highlight their own decline. The PDP has fallen into ruins and been rejected by Nigerians. Rather than focus on reviving their failing party, they waste time making baseless allegations against our great Party.”

The party cited the public’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration as evidenced by its recent wins in bye-elections in states like Zamfara, Adamawa, and Kano.

“The APC’s dominant victory in the just-concluded bye-elections attest loudly to the level that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope policies are resonating with Nigerians,” the statement said.

According to the statement, PDP governors only celebrate democracy in states they have won while denouncing it in those they have lost.

“The victory or defeat of the PDP or other opposition parties is not, and cannot become, the barometer for measuring the credibility of our country’s electoral process,” the APC said.

Along with praising President Tinubu’s economic measures, the statement pointed out that although federal funding for state governments has risen, several PDP-led states have allegedly failed to provide for their inhabitants.

“The PDP governors should accept the bye-election results as a clear rejection of their party. Denying their party’s decline betrays their disillusioned members. They have no credible ideas for Nigerians and cannot dictate voters’ choices for 2027. While benefiting from President Tinubu’s economic policies and record federal allocations, they continue to fail their citizens with poor governance.”

“Nigeria will not return to the dark days of PDP-led rule when many states were bankrupt and struggled to pay basic wages. President Tinubu has charted a clear path to prosperity, and Nigerians recognize the Party working tirelessly for national renewal. They will not be misled by opposition parties that fail in their own states yet claim they can do better for the country.”

The APC asked Nigerians to disregard the baseless and deceptive statements made by these critics and to keep backing the party in its efforts to provide all Nigerians with shared wealth and wholesome development.
