The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee, or NWC, officially recognized Udeh Okoye as the party’s substantive national secretary on Wednesday following a back-and-forth.

Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, said in a statement that the decision was made after a careful review of a note that the Acting National Chairman had given the party about court rulings that supported Udeh Okoye’s stance.

The NWC reviewed a number of important documents during its meeting, the statement continued.

These included a ruling from the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, and a declaratory ruling from the High Court of Enugu, both of which proclaimed Udeh Okoye the National Secretary of the PDP.

They also looked at legal opinions from Dr. Kabiru T. Turaki SAN and the PDP’s National Legal Adviser.

“After due consideration of the Memo and the attachments, the NWC overwhelmingly recognizes, acknowledges and confirms Rt. Hon. S.K.E Udeh Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the PDP in full compliance with and obedience to the Judgement of the Court of Appeal, recognizing that there is no subsisting or superseding Judgment or Order from any Court of superior authority or hierarchy”, the statement added.
