Support for the recent court decision that declared the PDP’s congresses in Rivers State invalid has been voiced by a few members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

During their visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday evening, the NWC members expressed their stance and met with the governor behind closed doors.

Debo Ologunagba, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, was part of the group.

Following the meeting, Ahmed Mohammed, the National Treasurer, reiterated that Governor Fubara is the party leader in Rivers State.

In order to realign the party and prepare for a resurgence in the 2027 elections, he explained their visit.

Mohammed declared their dedication to promoting harmony, stability, and successful reorientation within the State.

He added that Ude Okoye, who was just restored as the party’s National Secretary by the Court of Appeal, had the backing of the NWC.

Mohammed called on governors and party stakeholders to support Okoye in order to move forward the party.

The visit takes place a few days after Governor Fubara met with PDP Youth leaders from all across the nation to try to address internal party issues and to reaffirm his leadership in the state.

There have been ripples inside the party as a result of the court decision that declared the Ward, Local, and State congresses invalid. These elections were won by supporters of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
