Okpolupm Etteh, the member of the House of Representatives for Aleq Ibom State’s Eket/Onna/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, has supported Governor Umo Eno’s recent public support of President Bola Tinubu.

Etteh, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said in a statement released in Uyo on Wednesday that Eno’s action is a “courageous endorsement” that shows a strong commitment to Akwa Ibom State’s peace, unity, and sustainable development.

Recall that Governor Umo Eno’s endorsement of Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio sparked rumors that he was planning to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Etteh responded to the news by saying that the governor’s position is a conscious effort to support the federal administration regardless of party affiliation. He claimed that the governor had put the state’s interests ahead of party lines.

He said, “This represents a bold, pragmatic, and visionary step that transcends partisan lines. It is a clear demonstration of your unwavering commitment to the unity, progress and prosperity of Akwa Ibom State and her people.”

The lawmaker praised Governor Eno for realizing the strategic value of fostering cooperation with the Tinubu-led administration, stressing that this kind of cooperation is essential to gaining access to federal opportunities that could greatly speed up the state’s social, economic, and infrastructure development.

“Your statesmanship sends a strong message of maturity in governance and deep concern for the welfare of our citizens.

“This posture inspires optimism that Akwa Ibom will benefit immensely from greater synergy with the Federal Government, particularly as our illustrious son occupies the No. 3 position in this Government,” he stressed.

According to Etteh, the act was not only symbolic but also showed the solidarity and goodwill of Akwa Ibom’s national political leadership.

“Your support for Senator Akpabio is a reaffirmation of the value of homegrown leadership and collective responsibility in the pursuit of a better future for Akwa Ibom,” he added.
