All of the decisions allegedly made during the conference, which was hosted at the Enugu State Government House in Enugu under the leadership of Chief Ali Odefa, the party’s factional national vice chairman, have been categorically rejected by the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, South East stakeholders.

The stakeholders reaffirmed their support for the party’s national secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, during a meeting called by Hon. Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu, the newly appointed National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Southeast zone, which took place in Abuja on Tuesday.

The stakeholders’ meeting which was attended by the leaders of the party in the Southeast, including the immediate past governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Senator Michael Amah Nnachi, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, Rt. Hon Jones Onyeriri, the Zonal Legal Adviser, Barrister Ukpai Ukairo, Zonal Organising Secretary, Rt. Hon. Mike Ahumibe, the PDP Chairmen of Imo and Abia states, among others, reiterated their call for the National Working Committee (NWC) to obey the Supreme Court ruling “that explicitly reaffirmed the position of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the party”.

In a communiqué signed at the conclusion of the meeting, the stakeholders addressed some of the issues causing the party’s crisis in the Southeast zone and unanimously urged the NWC and the public to ignore the meeting, which was called at the request of the expelled former National Vice Chairman, Odefa.

Additionally, the stakeholders reaffirmed their demand that Congresses in Anambra and Ebonyi States, which lack a legitimate State Working Committee, be conducted immediately.

The communique urged the Zonal Working Committee to promptly initiate “Contempt of Court” proceedings against the former zonal chairman after recalling multiple rulings that upheld Mr. Ali Odefa’s suspension and subsequent expulsion as the PDP Southeast’s national vice chairman.

The Stakeholders also called on all party leaders and members to back the party’s reconciliation committee, which is led by Senator Bukola Saraki, in order to settle the ongoing crises and leadership disputes and ensure the party’s continued existence.
