The Kaduna State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has voiced concerns over the governor Uba Sani-led administration’s inadequate focus on state-owned educational institutions.

The party stated that it is “deeply concerned” about the warning strike that was started by staff unions over poor working conditions and deteriorating infrastructure at state-owned tertiary institutions, such as Shehu Idris College of Health Technology, Kaduna State College of Nursing, Kaduna State College of Education, and Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic.

The walkout, which started early Thursday morning, threatened the academic calendar and the future of thousands of students, according to a statement released by Edward Percy Masha, the PDP’s state chairman.

He said, “We are deeply concerned that thousands of students are at risk of delayed graduation and traumatic experiences due to the government’s neglect of the education sector.

“Given the substantial financial resources accrued to the APC administration under Governor Uba Sani over the past two years, there is no justification for the lack of attention to education.”

Masha clarified that the PDP supports the workers’ unions and called on the government to negotiate with them to accommodate their demands, emphasizing that education is a fundamental right and that it is the responsibility of the government to provide an atmosphere that is supportive of educators and students.

“We sympathize with the lecturers and students affected and assure them of our unwavering commitment to ensuring a responsible and responsive government,” he stated.

In order to change the incompetent APC government and guarantee a better future for Kaduna State through the electoral process, the state chairman of the PDP urged the populace to exercise patience and faith in the party.
