Mass party member defection to other parties has been denied by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kaduna State branch.

Following the enlarged Caucus meeting in Kaduna, the party’s state chairman, Edward Percy Masha, released a statement stating that “the party’s membership is still intact, they are still loyal to the party’s leadership and party.”

Additionally, he promised that the PDP is prepared to unseat the All Progressives Congress, APC, at all levels of government.

Ahead of crucial bye-elections in the state, the party’s mainstays reiterated their unwavering dedication to the PDP’s unity and advancement, stating that the caucus decided to disassociate the state chapter and its leaders from rumors that they were planning to leave the party.

The gathering, according to the communiqué, praised the PDP’s existing national leadership, particularly the Board of Trustees and the PDP Governors’ Forum, and proclaimed unwavering support for their continued efforts to hold a national elective convention in order to reposition the party.

The party also stated that it supports the potential coalitions or strategic partnerships that the PDP’s new national leadership is considering following the proposed convention in order to deprive the APC of federal and state authority.

According to the communiqué, the Kaduna State party is unified, focused, and has decided to cooperate in order to support PDP candidates in the three constituencies where bye-elections are scheduled to take place, as well as in any subsequent elections.

In order to counter the APC’s influence and address what they called the ruling party’s “woeful governance failures” throughout Kaduna, the meeting discussed strengthening the PDP’s grassroots structures. It was emphasized that key stakeholders from the state’s three senatorial zones, including serving and former lawmakers, local government party chairmen, youth and women leaders, and others, attended the expanded caucus meeting.

With the state bye-elections quickly approaching, the PDP’s most recent action indicates that it intends to unite, suppress internal dissension, and put up a united front in order to regain political ground that the APC has lost.
