PDP takes crucial step ahead of planned Convention

A 13-member National Convention Screening Committee has been established by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to screen candidates for national posts prior to the party’s highly anticipated 2025 Elective National Convention, which is set for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to a statement released on Saturday by Adamawa State Governor Umaru Fintiri and the Chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee, NCOC, the screening process is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Eyitayo Jegede, a past contender for governor of Ondo State, will chair the committee, the statement said.

Mr. Asue Ighodalo will be the Secretary, Jacob Otorkpa will be the Deputy Secretary, and Hon. Mohammed L. S. Diri will assist Jegede as Deputy Chairman.

Emmanuel Enoidem, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chief Mrs. Aduke Maina, Iyom Josephine Anenih, Achike Udenwa, Maryam Inna Ciroma, Felix Hassan Hyat, Zainab Maina, and Chinedu Nwachukwu—who will also hold the position of Administrative Secretary—are among the other members of the committee.

According to the statement, the choice demonstrated the PDP’s dedication to openness, honesty, and internal democracy in the lead-up to its national convention.

“The NCOC notes and expects that the exemplary conduct and strict adherence to rules and regulations during this very crucial assignment will justify the confidence reposed by the party in members of the committee,” the statement read.

Fintiri emphasized the PDP’s determination to fortify its democratic institutions in advance of the general elections in 2027 by assuring party members that the screening procedure will be carried out with the utmost fairness and impartiality.
