Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is led by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have endorsed Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s official national secretary.
Ahead of the 2027 elections, they pushed the party to zone its presidential ticket to the south.
Following a meeting on Monday night in Abuja, the PDP stakeholders—including three former governors—made the demand: Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Samuel Ortom of Benue.
“We therefore unequivocally affirm senator Anyanwu as the truly elected substantive national secretary of our great party.
“In the spirit of fairness and respect for our party constitution, the party must make an unequivocal announcement zoning its presidential candidate to the south in the 2027 election,” the said said in a communique read by Wike.
The stakeholders claim that Anyanwu is the only person authorized to announce the dates of meetings of the National Convention, National Working Committee, National Caucuses, and the party’s highest body, the National Executive Council, NEC.
