Another pensioner, Christopher, reported not receiving his pension payment despite completing his ‘I Am Alive’ confirmation. “Hello, my name is Christopher… I did my last ‘I Am Alive’ confirmation on August 20, 2024 making it three times that I have done it. But, surprisingly, nothing was credited into my account last month.”
PTAD advised Christopher to check with his bank, stating that he had been paid his arrears and was on their payroll. “From the record at our disposal, the pensioner has been paid his arrears and is on our payroll. Please let him go to his bank and find out.
Jacob, another pensioner, sought help with unpaid arrears of pension from August 2002 to August 2010. “My name is Jacob… My date of first appointment was December 2, 1970. I retired in July 2002… I made attempts to get the arrears paid but all to no avail.”
PTAD requested that Jacob provide a hardcopy of his bank statement from retirement till date to process his complaint. “The pensioner should, kindly, provide us with the hardcopy of his bank Statement from retirement till date to enable us process your complaint of non-payment of gratuity.”
In other news, PTAD has announced plans to implement a N32,000 pension increment for pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme, which will take effect from July 29, 2024. The Directorate has also paid N1 billion in arrears to pensioners who were underpaid.
