According to the Arewa Consultative Forum, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s candidacy seems more appealing ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In an appearance on Arise TV on Thursday, Prof. Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the Arewa Consultative Forum’s publicity secretary, criticized Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, for his one-term pledge.

However, he asserted that the former president still has a lot of work to do to win over Nigerians, particularly those who are eligible to vote.

Peter Obi’s one-term pledge was characterized by Tukur as a desperate move.

He said, “The one-term issue is simply political talk, a clear act of desperation. On the surface, Goodluck Jonathan appears attractive.

“Over time, and especially since 2015, Jonathan has accumulated a lot of positives. He gave up when he thought he lost the election, and he has been living a quiet life.

“He has also gained several international recognitions. Developments since 2015 seem to favour him.

“However, it’s still a long way till 2027, and he will need to do a lot to sell himself.”

Jonathan has not yet commented on the upcoming election, although there have been rumors that he is prepared to run for president in 2027.
