According to President Bola Tinubu, Nigerian drivers now have a choice between paying N1,000 a litre for fuel or N200 per standard cubic meter for less expensive compressed natural gas (CNG).

This declaration was made by the president on Tuesday at the State House in Abuja during a meeting with executives of the Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company, or NIPCO.

“Nigeria’s motorists can buy petrol at N1,000 per litre or equivalent gas per Standard Cubic Meter at N200.

“We have also introduced incentives for commercial motorists to convert from petrol to gas” free of cost,” Bayo Onanuga, Presidential spokesman, quoted Tinubu to have said.

Tinubu praised NIPCO’s contribution to promoting the use of CNG as an alternative fuel during the conference.

He also underlined how important it is for the country to switch to CNG in order to lessen its dependency on petrol and lower consumer fuel prices.
