Kaleida Health and Oishei’s Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York, have received a significant donation of $50 million from Tom Golisano, founder of Paychex, to support advanced pediatric care. The generous gift will enable the hospital to acquire cutting-edge equipment and technology, as well as enhance programs and services that are not typically reimbursed.

As a token of gratitude, the hospital will be renamed the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo in January 2026, marking the fourth children’s hospital to bear his name. The others are located in Syracuse and Rochester, New York, and southwest Florida.

Golisano, a former owner of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bandits, expressed his commitment to the community, saying, “I consider Buffalo, New York, part of my hometown community, and am proud to make this investment in the health of its children.” He added, “This support is about ensuring that every child, no matter their circumstances, has access to the highest quality care close to home.”

The children’s hospital had previously received a leading $10 million gift from the John R. Oishei Foundation when it opened its new facility in November 2018. Following Golisano’s substantial donation, the Oishei Foundation board has agreed to relinquish its naming rights.

Golisano praised the hospital’s staff, saying, “The doctors, nurses, and staff here are what make that care possible, and I’m honored to support their work as we look ahead to all that the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo will accomplish for generations to come.
