Bello was freed from the Kuje Custodial Centre on bail in December 2024. The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has charged the former governor and two other people with fraud in connection with N110 billion that was purportedly taken from the Kogi State government’s funds.
Bello entered a not guilty plea to the 16 charges that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had levelled against him. The matter has been adjourned to January 29, 2025.
Additionally, a Federal High Court in Abuja has charged Bello with money laundering totalling N80 billion.
