The Kano State Police Command has made significant progress in unraveling a case involving armed robbery and attempted murder that occurred at Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos.

According to a statement released on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, officers acting on credible intelligence apprehended two individuals on September 11, 2025, in the Na’ibawa area of Kano.

The suspects have been identified as 25-year-old Mathew Adewole, a resident of Na’ibawa Quarters, and 31-year-old Mukhtar Muhammad from Unguwa Uku Quarters, both in Kano State.

SP Kiyawa stated that Adewole confessed to assaulting a resident of Bera Estate, known as Lil-Kesh, on August 19, 2025.

The victim sustained severe injuries, including a deep wound to the neck, during the violent robbery attempt, which was reportedly aimed at killing him.

Kiyawa further disclosed that the assailant compelled the victim to transfer ₦2,120,000 from his phone to an account belonging to his accomplice, Mukhtar Muhammad.

The spokesperson emphasized that this operation aligns with directives from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who has urged all commands nationwide to strengthen intelligence-driven operations, work closely with communities, and foster strategic collaborations to combat crime effectively.

He confirmed that the arrested suspects have been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for continued investigation and legal proceedings.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the officers involved for their professionalism and also acknowledged the public’s support in aiding the investigation.

He assured that the Command “remains committed to maintaining law and public order in the state, working closely with other security agencies and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to combating crime.”
