In Abinsi village, Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, two infamous arms traffickers have been taken into custody by members of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID–IRT).

After the police received solid information regarding the suspects’ activities, they made the arrest on Wednesday. Among those detained is prominent illicit arms trader Adikwu Ikwulono.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama said on Friday that the authorities found hundreds of rounds of live 7.62mm ammo, five AK-47 weapons, and a rocket launcher during the raid.

The guns were intended for a group of armed bandits and herders who operate along the Benue–Nasarawa border, according to Benue police sources.

“The group was reportedly planning coordinated attacks on several communities in Benue State.

“The suspects are now being interrogated by the police, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate,” Makama wrote.
