Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, a 26-year-old man from the state’s Ini Local Government Area, has been taken into custody by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command on suspicion of engaging in armed robbery and defilement.

This was revealed in a statement released in Uyo on Saturday by DSP Timfon John, the Command’s Public Relations Officer.

John stated that after receiving information from a concerned citizen, the suspect was taken into custody by Command personnel on August 28.

A locally manufactured pistol and one cartridge were found during a search of the suspect, she said, adding that a covert investigation is still underway to apprehend further gang members and retrieve their functioning weapons.

John encouraged the people to continue assisting the police by giving them accurate and timely information, while also reminding them of the Command’s dedication to guaranteeing the protection of every inhabitant.

Parts of the statement read, “On August 28, 2025, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested a suspect linked to a case of defilement and armed robbery in the state.

“Following a tip-off received on August 27 from a concerned citizen, detectives were able to track and apprehend the suspect, Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, a 26-year-old male from Ini Local Government Area.

“The arrest was made at approximately 1340 hours. Upon a search of the suspect, a locally made pistol and one cartridge were recovered from his possession.”
