Three people have been declared killed by the Lagos State Police Command, while an inspector is presently in serious and potentially fatal condition.
The incident happened after some businessmen and alleged land grabbers got into a fight on Lagos Island’s Balogun Market.
Earlier reports said both Yoruba and Igbo traders were involved in the violent altercation.
The terrible incident was confirmed by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Command’s Police Public Relations Officer in a statement.
According to the PPRO, three people died and a police inspector was gravely hurt during the altercation.
While the injured Police Inspector is undergoing treatment at the hospital in a severe and life-threatening state, the three mortally injured individuals were pronounced dead after they were taken there by the police.
Abiodun Ariori, the CEO of Prosperous Ariori Golden Venture Limited, was linked to the fatal conflict between the land grabbers and traders, according to the PPRO’s preliminary inquiry.
He said Abiodub is “hereby declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command as all efforts to effect his arrest and bring him to justice has so far proved abortive. It is very clear that he has gone into hiding.
But according to the police, things have already returned to normal in the impacted region.
