Eight individuals have been held for prosecution in connection with the alleged mutilation of a 16-year-old boy’s scrotum in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, according to the Osun Police Command.
DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the command’s spokeswoman, announced this in an Osogbo statement on Monday.
According to Ojelabi, three of the suspects, who live in Apomu, went to Arademi Area, Ikire, on July 26 at approximately 4 p.m. to cultivate farmland.
According to him, two of the suspects lured their victim to a distant bush after mowing the grass, then slashed open his abdomen in an attempt to extract some of his body’s essential organs.
“They, however, removed his scrotum and ran away when the victim raised an alarm.
“The police, when contacted, immediately moved to the scene, took the victim to a hospital for medical attention, and later referred him to the University College Hospital,” he said.
He claimed that eight persons were arrested in connection with the incident as a result of further investigation.
Ojelabi claims that on July 30 at approximately 11:45 a.m., two suspected cult members who were allegedly active at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, were taken into custody in front of the school’s campus.
Other arrests in July, he claimed, included one suspect who stole an iPhone 11 from a victim in Oke Baale, Osogbo, and another who was apprehended at Sedona, Ede, with a cut-to-size gun.
Ojelabi added that a person who had stolen a motorcycle from a mosque had also been caught, and that all suspects would face charges if investigations were finished.
