In Kano’s Hotoro neighborhood, a police inspector with the Kano State Command was accidentally shot and killed while on duty.
Security analyst Zangazola Makama published the incident, which happened on Saturday at approximately 5:40 a.m., on X on Sunday.
According to Makama, the disaster occurred after the officer, Inspector Aminu Ibrahim of the Hotoro Division, reportedly entered a restroom on Basnaj Global Resources Limited’s property.
According to preliminary investigations, Ibrahim was squatting with his loaded AK-47 rifle dangling around his neck when he unintentionally shot himself in the stomach.
Later, the gun, identified as GT 4177, was found primed, and 29 rounds of ammunition—rather than the 30 that had been given to him—were tallied.
After being taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, the inspector was pronounced dead by the on-duty physician. Since then, his remains have been placed in the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
