The Kaduna State Police Command has begun an investigation into the outbreak of violence that occurred during a political gathering allegedly linked to former governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
According to reports, the incident took place on Saturday during the inauguration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Transition Committee in Kaduna. A group of youths, reportedly armed with clubs, machetes, and stones, disrupted the event, leaving several attendees injured and damaging vehicles at the location.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the situation and noted that the organisers failed to notify the police or any security agencies about the rally beforehand.
Preliminary findings suggest the violence was triggered by a confrontation between rival political supporters.
Meanwhile, the state chapter of the ADC has distanced itself from the gathering, stating it was unaware of the event and reaffirming its commitment to peace and public order.
