At least four individuals drowned during the state’s most recent downpour, prompting the Gombe State Police Command to issue a strict safety caution.
Residents were advised to exercise particular caution during the rainy season by the police headquarters, which described the deaths as avoidable.
According to DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the Police Public Relations officer, the command is urging community members, parents, and guardians to protect vulnerable people from hazardous waters.
Children should stay inside during rainy weather, or at the very least, avoid rivers and erosion sites until the rain stops, according to the safety recommendation.
The depth and stream of the water can be unexpected, therefore residents have also been warned to avoid open or uncontrolled water bodies and to avoid driving or walking in flooded regions.
Additionally, the Police Command suggested barricading off dangerous portions of the community or putting up warning signs. Additionally, they urged locals to notify the proper authorities of any dangerous areas.
