A pastor named Louis Akpojotor Mevoweoyo, who lives in the state’s Ibiono Ibom LGA, has been paraded by the Akwa Ibom State Police command on suspicion of defiling his daughter, whose identity has been witheld.

According to investigations, the suspect began perpetrating the crime when his daughter was 12 years old, according to DSP Timfon John, the state’s police public relations officer, who paraded the suspect and other suspects before the Command’s headquarters on Monday.

The police spokesperson stated, “We have arrested one Louis Akpojotor Mevoweoyo, a pastor from Ughelli North LGA, residing in Ibiono Ibom, for defiling his daughter (name withheld).

“Investigations revealed that the suspect had been sexually assaulting the victim since she was 12 years old, with the latest incident occurring in December 2024.”

She added that Daniel Effiong Umoh, also known as Akaka, 32, of Abak Itenghe, Abak local council, was detained by the Command on suspicion of defiling a female.

John said that after attacking and dragging the victim into the jungle while brandishing a machete, the suspect had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

Investigations showed that the man had previously sexually assaulted other underage girls, she said.

A physically disabled guy named Umoh Ubong Udoh was also paraded by the Command for illegally possessing what was believed to be Indian hemp, which he was selling to criminals in Ifa Ikot Idang, Uyo.

Six suspects for child trafficking and theft in the state were also displayed by the PPRO.

At the conclusion of the investigations, the police spokesperson stated that all of the accused would face charges and prosecution.

She also urged the public to report any suspicious activity in their surroundings and provide the police with helpful information, as Commissioner CP Baba Mohammed Azare was committed to serve the state better.
