An old woman who tried to commit suicide by jumping into the lagoon from Carter Bridge was successfully saved by members of the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad, or RRS.

The squad’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @rrsLagos767, tweeted a statement stating that the event happened at around 12:20 p.m. on Friday while RRS officers were on a routine patrol.

A fatal conclusion could have been avoided since the officers were able to step in just in time. The woman was escorted right away to the RRS Headquarters, where CSP Shola Jejeloye, the Squad Commander, welcomed her.

After hearing the woman’s story, CSP Jejeloye helped her, her husband, and their 30-year-old son hold a private reconciliation meeting to discuss any underlying family issues that might have had a role in the incident.

After the tearful discussion, the RRS Commander gave the woman financial support to support her recovery and well-being in addition to comprehensive counseling.

The family conveyed their sincere appreciation to CSP Jejeloye and the RRS officers for their prompt action, sympathetic management of the matter, and kind assistance.

Since then, the woman has been turned over to her husband and son.
