The Kano State Police Command has pledged to take disciplinary measures against officers seen in a viral video allegedly assisting a politician in the distribution of cash.

The circulating footage, which has gained traction on social media, was initially believed to be linked to the recently concluded by-elections in the state.

However, in an official statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, clarified that the incident actually took place on July 10, 2025, following a ceremony held at the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government House.

He further emphasized that the video has no connection to the re-run and by-elections conducted on Saturday.

“The investigation revealed the officers were deployed for security at the event, during which they were regrettably seen engaging in unprofessional conduct.

“The Command assures the public that appropriate disciplinary actions are being taken against the erring officers to maintain the integrity and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force.

“We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline and ethics while ensuring the trust and confidence of the public”, the statement added.
