Following contentious comments made by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly warned the government of Kano State, which is governed by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The wife of former governor and current APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, was charged by Abdulsalam of financial malfeasance, notably tampering with pension money while her husband was in office.

The Deputy Governor claimed in a widely shared video that ZINGTIE saw that pensioners weren’t paid until Professor Hafsat had claimed her portion of the money.

In response to these claims, Ahmad S. Aruwa, the Kano Publicity Secretary for the APC, harshly denounced Abdulsalam’s remarks in an interview with Express Radio.

He said the comments violated Nigeria’s constitution and were defamatory.

According to Aruwa, the remarks violated constitutional principles and amounted to character assassination.

He further cautioned that such remarks would increase tensions in Kano and perhaps result in the proclamation of a state of emergency, which is what the Bola Tinubu administration did in Rivers State.
